Taron: A Rollercoaster Love Affair!

Taron Review

So of course, how could my first review NOT be about my fav coaster! So to anyone who has ridden 'Taron', Im hoping you will understand some of my view points, to anyone who hasn't yet experienced the wonders of this coaster please read on and let me convince you otherwise!

First things first, you can find 'Taron' ( a multi-launch, Intamin ) and it's sister coaster 'Raik' ( a Vekoma family boomerang ) within the world of Klugheim. In one of the most underrated parks in Europe 'Phantasialand' just outside of the city of Cologne in Germany.

'Taron' has received some industry breaking titles in its time. 'World's Fastest Multi-Launching Coaster In The World' as well as 'World's Longest Multi-Launching Coaster' and please believe me when I say it deserves every good word it receives.

So in the words of MC Hammer, Lets break it down.....

RIDE AREA:

Welcome to 'Klugheim'... just like 'Jurassic Park River Adventure' in UIOA, you almost expect to hear this come over the speakers, as you enter underneath the magical archway into this Land...

From here the land evolves around you, combining world class theming and intergrating coaster track throughout the set pieces and structures around you.

Set within a world of trolls, 'Klugheim'a mix between medieval, Viking and almost game of thrones style setting.

Its Home to two great coasters both packing a punch of intensity, but more on Taron later.. 😉

When visiting here for the first time a couple years ago, I was so surprised to see this level of theming outside a Disney Park. But truly it goes to show, the overwhelming level of detail and immersion that independent parks can achieve.

Across the land, there are bridges, stone rock buildings and large, rock work surrounding the entire area! Which really does make for some stunning scenery.

Not to mention shops, restaurants and even beer carts!

ImaScore also produced a sweeping score to accompany these sights and experiences which really does put the cherry on top to this totally immersive land. Completing this well rounded package!

It truly has to be seen to believed!

Taron Ride Experience:

Ok so we have touched on the land, But what about 'Taron' Itself? Why has it got such a high placing amongst Theme Park and Coaster enthusiasts across the world?!

Im going to mention some of my favourite moments and reasons for this.

First up, we must talk about the 'Head-Choppers' these are near-miss moments. I don't think I have ever been on a coaster which truly takes that phrase and uses it quite literally!

You are forever on this coaster, staying low to the ground, which not only creates the illusion you are going faster then you really are, but it allows you to duck and dive within the structures and buildings of 'Klugheim' and boy oh boy you really do just that!

The Launches themselves pack a Punch, as I mentioned before this coaster has held some impressive titles in its time. The first (LMS) launch,  straight out of the station peaks at an impressive 60MPH, just after you've been moving through buildings, you then approach, the second LMS boost, which gets you to your top speed of 72.7MPH, zooming straight through a Huge piece of Rock work!

Yes faster coasters do exist out there, but with all the elements, scenery, head choppers and on-board audio to accompany riders on their journey, there is nothing quite like this anywhere else!

WRAP UP:

This coaster has to be experienced in Person, with all its elements combined this really is a piece of rollercoaster art, that is worth any trip to Germany to see!

STAT REVIEW:

Intensity: 9/10

Ride Elements: 10/10

Theming: 10/10

As always, these are my opinions and thoughts, they won't reflect everyone's and that's ok, the best thing about being a part of a community of Coaster lovers, is that we all appreciate different things!

Speaking of this,

If you wanna share your own thoughts on Taron or anything Theme Park related please get in Touch!

Thanks for reading, Until Next time Coaster heads!

See ya!

  1. Good review and tribute to Taron!
I also like Taron a lot! It's actually my favorite coaster that I've ridden! I won't go in depth about what I think of it, but I love the way it blends in with the scenery, the speed it has when it goes through the structures and the freedom you have during the ride. This really is a work of art!
