Coaster Wars: Which Mummy Wins?
2 world famous parks, 2 spectacular coastlines, 1 great coaster.
Yes, if you haven't guessed already today I am talking about the wonderful 'Revenge Of The Mummy: The Ride'. Based on the hit film franchise of the late 90s and early 00s, this coaster has become a 'Must -Ride' at Universal's theme parks to some.
With it's launch of up to 40 mph, indoor airtime and all the special effects, show scenes and animatronics... it is not hard to see why...
With there being two versions of the ride in the states (one at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Orlando) I wanted to put them up 'head to head' to see which wins the title of the best version in the US!
Today I will be focusing on three perticular things. Theming, Layout and Effects
( as always please keep in mind, these are just my opinions, we all have different ones, which is the best thing about being in the coaster community, so please get involved and share your own thoughts)
Let's GO!

Let's GO!
Theming:
Whilst La does have some fantastic show scenes, such as the skeletons at the beginning of the dark ride section, or even the animatronic of the main villain of the franchise 'Imhotep'...
Orlando Wins the first round, this is simply down to one moment on the ride.... The fake station.
Yes, ok it's a touch cheesy, but this effect and gag, was something that coaster heads dreamed about in the 00s! Universal made it a reality!
Orlando Wins this round...
ORLANDO: 1 - LA: 0
Layout:
Let me get one thing clear here, there Is nothing wrong with Orlando's layout.
However, by todays standards and as coasters go in general... it is a bit boring.
The winner here is LA.
The wonderful switch track elements, makes the ride, almost feel like a 2 for 1.
Getting a forces going forwards and backwards are two very different things. La uses this to its advantage and within the small space, creates a surprisingly intense and forceful ride.
ORLANDO: 1 - LA: 1
Effects:
Here is where Orlando win's again...
The fire effects in the dark ride section, the huge fire in the ceiling effect during the fake station gag and the leg ticklers, all make Orlando's version stand out as the superior.
With Orlando's Mummy being so effect heavy and unique... It leaves LA... well.... in the dust.
ORLANDO: 2 - LA: 1
Wrap Up:
So there we have my personal views on which wins. Let's get something clear, they are both in their own right... fantastic, world class coasters!
Do you agree? Which would be your winner?
