Out and Back: Bumping Beauties or Lethargic Layouts?
Coaster fans over the years have come up with nicknames for various layouts... today we are going to quickly talk about the very famous 'Out and Back' layout...
Just to clarify, out and back is as it says on the tin, it rides over a series on hills and bumps in a traditional straight line format, far into the distance... before doing a U-turn and repeating itself back to the station.
We've seen this being used on a bunch of coasters in the past.
I wanted to name a couple that really stand out to me, as two great examples of steel and wood!
Here's the thing, many coaster fans love it, claiming its thrilling, simple and can always deliver.
But on the other-side, of the argument some say they can be boring and ( particularly in the case of B&M's) they can be far too smooth.
Here's my personal thoughts... For a woody I think they are a great option, bumpy, fast and chaotic, but I have to agree with those out there that say B&M's out and backs are a little dull...
What I really want to know though, is what's your thoughts?!

1). Mako - Seaworld Orlando, USA
This coaster is a classic example of a B&M hyper, with an its smooth riding capabilities and impressive height of 200ft, it's a great variation of an out and back!
If you happen to be in Orlando anytime in the near future, get yourself to Seaworld and try it out!
2). Shivering Timbers - Michigan's Adventure, USA
Perhaps one of the most famous 'out and back' coasters out there...
This is a woody of great preparations, over 5,000 ft of track and reaching speeds of 57mph, it's huge!
Plus there is a great photo opportunity too, with other great coasters and a waterpark, you gotta check out Michigan's Adventure!
