Dope Docs: The Best Docs For Your Alton Towers Fix

It's safe to say that everyone is missing theme parks at the moment.

With the state the world is in, we as theme park enthusiasts need to find new ways to get our kicks, seeing as all the parks are closed around the world.

Some like to watch POVs of various coasters online, others like to play theme park or rollercoaster based video games...

Personally I like to watch documentaries all about different parks, past and present.

I love finding out all the factoids so I can impress ( or most likely annoy ) my friends for when the parks do open up again!

With this week being all about celebrating Alton Towers, I thought I would give my top 3 suggestions of documentaries all about our nation's favourite theme park.

Most of these you can find online, Youtube, Vimeo or the many other video streaming services that are available!

So let's go!

3.

Inside Alton Towers

This Documentary comes in 3rd place, yet its the most recently made on our list.

focusing on the build and lead up to the launch of the Wicker Man, the documentary follows the various processes that comes with making and brand new roller coaster

This Documentary is an interesting watch, as it focuses on all aspects of the theme park community enthusiasts, professionals and the general public.

However it fails to really capture a true, intimate inside feel or look...

2.

Themes, Dreams and Scream Machines

At number 2 on the list is this wonderful documentary.

Although, by todays standards, this documentary is ageing slightly, it gives an extremely in-depth look into the planning, creation and opening of two classic Alton Towers attractions.

Why this Documentary wins the 2nd spot, is that it simply hides nothing from us.
Following the ever famous designer John Wardley around in a kind of 'candid camera' style.

We go from design houses, to building sites, to park officials. This truly feels like no bars hold look, where every element of the process, is shown openly and honestly!

1.

The Magic Factory

Ok, so if you haven't guessed it already, of course this classic BBC documentary wins every time!

Giving us a look into park operations, hotel operations and even the designing and opening of oblivion, this doc has it all!

Its produced and polished, perhaps more so then our previous mentions, but as an overall look into the park, its fantastic!

Meeting and hearing from employees, designers and even giving us an all access look into the backstage of the park, for any theme park lover, this doc should be first on your list!

Wrap Up

So there we have it!

Some suggestions of what to watch, if you are needing your park fix!

I hope this helps!

Look out for more articles still to comes on Friday and over the weekend!
