Lionsgate Entertainment World: A Vertical Virtual Wonder!

Im going to be totally honest here, I had never even heard of this park until about 6 weeks ago.

Here is a giant Movie Studio (Lionsgate) with some massive world famous IP's, making a theme park in a style that is unheard of ... Vertical!

Yes Lionsgate Entertainment and the magicians over at Thinkwell ( the genius's responsible for the stunning Warner Bros World in Abu Dhabi ) have come together to create the 'World's First' Vertical theme park.

This park has been built within a high rise complex in China and it looks, just so interesting and intriguing...

Now to give an over all feel of the place, Im going to break down the various areas and then highlight a couple of attractions that ( personally for me ) look amazing!

So first up lets break this down a bit..

Overview

The Park is made up of 7 main areas across 3 floors.

  • Lionsgate - the main lobby or I guess atrium for the parks entrance, filled with shops and that grand screen!
  • Hunger Games - This area is finished off with a motion simulator (similar to that of star tours) and 'The Capital' a fantastic and lavish dinning venue
  • Escape Plan - This area consists of multiple escape rooms, all themed to the ever popular movie Escape Plan
  • Now You See Me - An area filled with more restaurants and bars, all themed to Macau and I believe a show of sorts
  • Kingdom Of Egypt - The name speaks for itself, an Egypt style area, but it's home to the purpose built VR rollercoaster 'Gods Of Egypt' ( More On That Later )
  • Divergent - This is another VR experience, where guests can virtually complete challenges that are designed to test their fear!
  • The Twilight Saga - This area is by far the most impressive and is home to two of the most popular attractions all based around the movies. ( I will touch on those later)

All of these areas combined make up the park ( so far ) with more additions to be added I am sure.

Attraction Spotlight

So Lets have a look at some of those impressive and key attractions here...

God's Of Egypt - Battle For Eternity

As I previously mentioned this is a rollercoaster, in a high rise, that is custom made for VR... wow

The coaster takes you through a journey around the lands of the pharaohs!

Swooping and soaring through landscapes and interacting with characters from the movie!

The coaster is apparently a smooth ride! But having never been on it ( yet ) myself, I can't give my thoughts.. However It looks super impressive!

The Twilight Saga - Bella's journey

This is a classic approach on a trackless dark ride.

Using a mixture of set pieces and screens, the attraction re-tells the story from the movie.

While some may find this idea, 'Typical' of an attraction of this style, If done well, its a great, smart and simple move for the park to do!

The Twilight Saga - Midnight Ride

This attraction is super interesting again! Combining VR and individual motion simulators, on motorbikes..

This attraction takes guests on a bike ride through the woods, while starring some of your favourite twilight characters. The bikes move on an individual basis, with effects in the room ( or theatre I guess) to create the illusion of riding through the forest at nighttime!

Wrap Up

So there we have it an interesting little insight into what must be a wonderful park. The Park opened in august 2019, so it is less than a year old!

Now I have never been, so if some info isn't exactly spot on, then forgive me.

but one thing is for sure.... this park is defiantly on my list!

Have you heard about this park? what looks the most impressive?
