Terrifying Towers: Disneyland Paris's Frightening Makeover Of A Classic Attraction!

Ok so before I jump into to this review, I want to put it out there.

This review will have spoilers from start to finish. So if you haven't yet experienced this version of the staple Disney ride, please be warned.

With that said... Let's "drop" in..... It doesn't get any better.....

The Update

I am sure many of you will have been through the doors of the once famous Hollywood Tower Hotel before.
With variations of this attraction exsisting across the globe in many parks, it's safe to say that the 'Tower Of Terror' has become somewhat of a Disney Staple!

Every attraction follows the same format and story line.

pre-show - Boiler Room - Elevator Doors - Attraction ( Twilight Zone Narrative and story )  - Exit.

So what makes Disneyland Paris's version different?

Well in September 2019, they announced the changes coming to the ride. In Paris fashion, this takes a more adult, scarier approach...

The new update to the ride, consists of 3 new storylines and media added to the attraction experience all based around the creepy little girl character, who initially made her appearance in the elevator scene, during the original version of the ride!

Yes she is actually very scary!

Review

Now I want to stress, while these changes are not "New" my trip in January ( 2020) was the first time I got to experience this!
Let me just say this, if you are not one for horror movies, or you scare easily, I really would think twice before riding!

Before entering that elevator, I truly had no idea that any of these changes had happened!
I had just returned from working for Disney Cruise Line in the middle of the ocean for a year, so there I was naively entering this attraction, thinking it would be the same as usual... how wrong I was!

Like mentioned before, there are 3 main storylines.
These storylines are always on the same elevators, so depending on which elevator you enter, is the story you're going to get.

All the stories are in both English and French.

I loved this, as it made re-riding so easy, if you want to experience all three, simply keep track on which elevators you have been on, and see if you can change every ride!

But where these actually scary?!

Absolutely!

With lingering creepiness to sudden to jump scares, the level of horror will not disappoint!
There are new lighting effects and sound throughout the various different rides, which all adds to a fantastically spooky experience!

Of course how could an update to Tower Of Terror,  NOT bring new drop sequences!
Yes they have even changed up the format and sequencing of drops. Each story brings a different formation!

The Storylines:

The three main stories to choose from are:

1. The Machine

The Spooky Girl is scaring guests and visitors alike!
However the elevator itself wants to keep you trapped in its claws!

2. The Creatures Of The Elevators

As the Girl says " They know you're here, whatever you do, don't scream". Whatever or whoever these creatures are, we don't want to wait to find out!
The creatures move around the elevator scaring us, waiting to have us for their own!

3. The 5th Dimension

Of Course how could they not mention the 5th dimension!
The question always remains, will we become trapped in this horror world, forever?!

Like I said before this really is a spooky ride! So do be warned before taking little ones on!

Wrap Up:

So to wrap this up, I thought this was a fantastic addition to the attraction. It brought with it, a new life, to the classic narrative! Diving deeper into the mystery of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, this almost feels like a sequel to the original ride!

It's scary, packs a punch and is a perfect shake up to the well ridden attraction.

I certainly hope, this version will stay with Paris for the forseeable future!

Stat Review:

Theming: 10/10
