Alternative Adorations: My Top 5 Suggestions For A No-Ride Day At Alton Towers
We are so lucky in the UK, to not have to rely on fibre glass or plastic to create are castles, we have the real thing!
The Park I'm talking about is of course Alton Towers...
While many come for a thrilling day out on the rides and attractions, I wanted to share some of my favourite activities to do in the park, that are not based around riding those famous coasters and flats.
There is so much that this park has to offer, but this often gets overshadowed by the huge variety of rides...
So without further delay, here is my top 5 suggestions for enjoying the wonders of Alton Towers without the need for rides.
Just to be clear, I'm only focusing on the theme park specifically and not the 'Resort Area'
( please remember, these are just my opinions. We all have different views and points to make, which is what makes being a part of the theme park loving community the best! )
Here we go then!

Here we go then!
1). Lakeside Chill
Ok, so weather permitting, I love taking a chill by the beautiful lake at the front on the park!
Either looking towards the Towers themselves, or even looking back towards Towers Street, it's a great place to relax, take in the music, people watch and maybe even get a glimpse of some rides going around their tracks!
Sitting here on a warm, sunny day, with a snack or ice cream... you just can't beat it!
2). Photoshoot Fun
Most people these days have a smart phone, smart phone cameras can now almost match that of an SLR a few years ago.
With this in mind... use it!
Go and take some great pics of your favourite rides, coasters or theming elements.....
Or if that's not your thing, maybe take a few profile pic wealthy snaps, there are loads of Instagram hot spots around the park. But your gunna have to find them!
3). Explore The Grounds
While I realise a few of you may have already been doing this, due to the grounds being open for walks, it still makes for a great escape from the noise and hustle and bustle of the park.
From the beautifully landscaped grounds, monuments and pavilions, you can find some impressive scenery all around.
There are some stunning view points from the towers themselves and the gardens, that are worth the trek! We promise!
4). Tour The Towers
While the park used to do official tours of the towers, that now I believe has since stopped, however you can still explore inside the towers themselves.
On the official website, or other online resources, you can find pages upon pages of info surround the various rooms and buildings that make up the towers.
Why not look around, explore the grand areas and even maybe climb to the lookout point and get some great views of X Sector!
5). It's Showtime
Of course, how could we NOT mention the fantastic entertainment at the park.
With stage shows, spontaneous street theatre and roaming characters, the park really does have something for everyone.
Stopping off and checking out a bunch of these offerings is a way to spend an afternoon and relax in the park.
Wrap Up:
