Hopeful Days Ahead: The Future Of Lightwater Valley

With Parks across the country, announcing opening dates for the beginning of July, I wanted to mention some of the smaller, independent and family owned businesses.

One of those that Is hot on my list, is Lightwater Valley!

Located in Ripon, Yorkshire in the UK, this park is home to some of the most unique rides in the nation!

With 'Raptor Attack' an indoor Schwarzkopf Wildcat coaster, 'The Ultimate', one of the most unique coasters in Europe and a whole host of flat rides, this park has a lot to offer!

Today I wanted to discuss what the future of this national treasure could be, especially in the wake of recent events...

( please remember these are just my own views, not everyone is going to agree and that's the best part about being in the coaster community, being able to discuss and debate!

This article is purely Speculation and in no way am I speaking for or on behalf of the park or any of it's affiliated companies)

Let's talk about this then..

New Leadership / Ownership

So I wanted to briefly touch on this to begin with.

After recent events in the park within the last year, there were stories circulating about the park potentially being sued due to a accident that happened last year.

This worried the community, as the future of the park was uncertain, due to being able to financially recover.

My thoughts on this are that the park itself would find new, shareholders, possible new ownership.

While this may seem a little naive, I really do thing, someone somewhere is going to want to support and buy the park, wanting to see the park flourish and survive.

Which in turn could be a good thing!

New owners, New opportunities...

New Attractions?!

Could there be any new attractions in the near future.

While I personally think we are unlikely to see a new major coaster or huge investment to the park's offering.

I think a 'Jazzed' up flat ride could be a great option...

In my view a great addition would be something like an indoor Wisdom Rides, Super Himalaya flat.

Imagine, having lasers, smoke, lights and loud music all while flying round on these classic style attractions.

I would be great!

While Flambards in Cornwall has 'Space Race', which is a similour style idea...

I think Lightwater Valley could really introduce a bigger, more interesting version, some awesome special FXs and create a unique concept for this!

What About 2020?!

Well while the park have not officially announced anything yet, they are still advertising their various seasonal offerings throughout the remainder of the year.

Their  summer event 'Summer Day Out' running from the 18th July - 2nd September and  their Halloween event 'Frightwater Valley' Running from the 25th October - 31st October.

Fear not fans their is still hope yet!

Support and Love

Finally I wanted to say, every park across the world is going to be struggling this year, with the impact Covid has had on the leisure and tourism industries...

But what we can be doing to help our own parks is to show them our support and love!

We all want Lightwater Valley to make it through and open up and with your support I have no doubt they will!

Wrap Up:

So there we have it, a little look at perhaps what's to come!

Do you agree?! What can you not wait to get on when the park reopens?!
