Just Wait For The Drop: The World's Best Drop Rides!

They are almost a staple at most theme parks or amusement parks around the world and yet.... I find.... some people just don't appreciate them!

Sure they are simple in design and you know the ride experience before you get on..... but It's the unknown of and the build up that wins in the end......

I am of course talking about Drop Towers, Drop rides, Shot Towers... whatever you want to call them!!

Personally I love them and having had the opportunity to experience a variety of these, that offer a different take on giving you that drop sensation... I wanted to share with you my top 5 Drop Rides in the world!

( please remember these are just my opinions, not everyone will share or agree with my thoughts and that's ok! It's what is great about being in the coaster community discussion and difference!)

So (in no particular order) here we go then:

Tower Of Terror - Disney Parks - Worldwide

Ok, many will have experienced this ride... some love it for it's fun bouncy sensations.. others will say it's tame...

For me, it makes it on the list as all throughout all the various versions it is one of the only drop tower attractions that really focuses on story.

Many drop towers are a simple station style building with a line somewhere and the full tower on show... this is an entirely different system.. that ultimately hides the height and therefore adds to the mystery!

This attraction will forever be one of my fav's in the world!!

Falcon's Fury - Busch Gardens: Tampa - USA

Falcon's Fury makes it on the list for sheer height and ride system!

This offers an experience that is totally unique. If moving slowly up to a staggering 334ft isn't tall enough! It's at the top the attraction makes itself known as one of the most extreme... as the seats move you out into a flying position...

Yep you literally are on your front... facing the ground... at 334ft in the air!

Honestly, I have never needed a wee more that at the top of this drop tower!

Absolutely Bonkers!

Apocalypse - Drayton Manor - UK

This attraction is a strong addition in the UK line up... but in terms of the world... it offers a very unique selling point too!

Not only does this drop tower give you a variety of ways to ride.... but it also offers one seating arrangement that offers riders something truly mad!

The option to ride this attraction... standing.. with no floor!

Yep after you kind of straddle a sort of bike seat, your harness comes down... your legs dangling and low lower half of your body feels totally free and exposed!

It's a really odd feeling! Not to mention the very intense drop... with a slight tilt of the seats too!... just to make sure you get a good view!

Mystery Castle - Phantasialand - Germany

Some will agree with this... others won't.. here's why it makes my list!

This is only drop tower.. that i felt completely breathless after...

Maybe it's because I wasn't expecting it to launch... I honestly thought when first sitting down... the floor was gunna drop!

But I was so shaken by it!... That's all Im gunna say about that!

Dr Doom's Fear Fall - Universal Studios - USA

Finally this makes it on the list... yes it is by today's standards, a fairly straight forward shot tower...

But quite simply... you can't beat that Orlando skyline view at night!

Absolutely world class classic with a great reward at the top, for the any riders that brave the fear fall!

Wrap Up:

There we are, my top 5 fav drop towers!

They all are different and wonderful for many different ways!
