It's not often I write about news or updates within the industry as I find this can somewhat get over-saturated by the thousands of bloggers out there... which ends up filling your feed with the same info as the next article....
But Today I make an exception as I feel with this news it opens up the discussion of the future possibilities with Universal and their houses!
After Rumours flying around for the last week or so, it finally got announced that Universal Orlando are opening two houses during daytime, standard operating hours!
Yes! ..... Im physically and emotionally screaming inside too!!
In order to process this landmark moment of positivity for the 2020 international theme park season, I'm going to break it all down.
First Up... Let's take a look at the two houses announced!
Universal Monsters: The Bride Of Frankenstein Lives
Starting with a homage to the world of classic monsters here's what my take on it would be and perhaps what we can expect:
Revisiting the storylines and main narrative arch's of the classic 1935 movie, we will be transported back into the world of the maddest scientific experiments and large gothic castles!
Truthfully I think this is going to have some very impressive and large scale set pieces!
If the HHN Tribute Store is anything to go by, just take a look at the first main room in which is themed to Frankenstein and the classic monsters!
It's Impressive to say the least!
ok, moving onto the 2nd house announced...
Revenge Of The Tooth Fairy
The 2nd house to be revealed for the new offering at Universal is 'Revenge Of The Tooth Fairy'
Here I think we can expect a twisted take on the children's legend.
We are entering a manor over run by 'Yellow - Clawed Fiends'. A darker take on the tale we were all told as children.
I think we can expect many bedroom scenes here, with some truly terrifying fairys running around!
The fairys want more than just your milk teeth in this story!
This is perhaps one of the most interesting takes on a haunt I have heard of... as truthfully we all at one stage in our lives have believed in the tale and so the dashing of a childhood dream could be quite impactful!
Ok so there is the current line up for this sort of reduced offering...
But I want to address some thoughts that I had about this and what perhaps the future could bring?!
Rotational Offerings
While I understand this is a wild idea and perhaps a little off the mark.. it isn't out of the realms of possibility!
Could we see Universal rotate the houses in and out of these two stages...
If done, they could run each of the houses for a limited time, whist it would mean a shorter run, you could in theory, get through all the mazes.
But of course this comes with challenges...
Could all of the mazes be purposed into the stages?
would there really be enough time to achieve this?
These are all issues that I am sure the creatives at Universal have thought through, whist a switch up wouldn't perhaps be off the cards, we will have to wait and see what happens?!
Year-Round Houses?
Another question that popped into my mind was...
Now that we see Universal running houses in a daytime / normal hours of operation, could this be something that they could do more of in the future?
With haunts being more popular than ever and the demand higher, it would be cool to universal create somewhat of a more permanent haunt.
While I know this was done at the Hollywood park, with the classic horror movies haunt and then more recently the walking dead attraction... could there be scope for this in Orlando, especially considering the more international first time visitors and less of a local crowd.
This could be easily changeable throughout the year to fit HHN and perhaps could be swapped out or added to every year?
Wrap Up:
Well there we have it, a longer look into what the new announcement means from Universal Orlando.
What are you looking forward to trying? Will you be able to make it over to the park?
